First below here is a plain outline map
of Europe. It is placed the way it is ("zideways") to help you print out
a copy (or two) for your own use. You can, for example, practise marking
in the main rivers (Rhine, Danube) and mountain ranges (Alps, Pyrenees,
Carpathian Gap!) and locating cities like Rome and Jerusalem. Xerox copies
of this map will be handed out at the Prelim for you to answer some simple
ID questions on.
The second map is a
plain physical relief map of Europe. You can ignore the lines in the sea,
which delineate the modern meteorological areas for mariners' weather forecasting!
The other natural features on it should help your exam preparation further.
Do please remember that the
real point of this exercise is not the Prelim exam at all,
but the good things to come later in the course and, just possibly, your
wider understanding and enjoyment of European geography!
