This conference will bring together public
opinion scholars from diverse intellectual backgrounds to discuss issues
of “Homogeneity and Heterogeneity in Public Opinion.” Specifically,
the conference will focus on three questions. How much heterogeneity exists
in public opinion? When and why does heterogeneous public opinion emerge?
And, what are the consequences of heterogeneous public opinion for representation
and inequality in the United States? We expect to combine the papers presented
at this conference into an edited volume organized around these three
questions.
