My research is centered around the Neolithic site of Çatalhöyük, Turkey where I have engaged in summer fieldwork since 2001. I am exploring burial practices, symbolism and sacred spaces with regard to children in prehistoric societies. My dissertation research includes a cross- cultural analysis of Çatalhöyük and its contemporaries in the Anatolian, Mediterranean and Near Eastern region. Other interests include religious symbolism and ritual performance in preliterate cultures, the role of children in ancient societies and aspects of archaeological illustration and reconstruction.
